bloody page rank!
31.01.2005
It's very funny how page ranking, google things and all that sort of things are annoying the web developing process.. It's not the first time that I have to sort that out, but now I'm doing right now a new version of a website. The design was looking fine, good new ideas and techy things but now, finishing the website, the client is asking to have a bunch of text at the footer of the page, like "special optimized text for searchers". That thing breaks the design easily, I tested things like adding the text in a layer and putting a fixed height to it, with an overflow:none, showing then only the first line of the content. But they say that Google can detect those kind of tricks. I honestly don't know if that's true or not but is making me lose time. The last problem is that google does have a pagerank with the old existing pages on the site, these pages were .html, now the site is done in .php and is really late to sort that thing. I'm sure that this "new" issues are happening to a lot of people.. so.. why they had to invent that page rank thing? It's very annoying!! ;)

so, as solution for the second issue (the page rank one), check out that quote:

“The 301 redirect is the safest way to preserve your rankings. On the next spidering, the search engine robot will obey the rule indicated in your .htaccess file. The search engine spider doesn’t actually read the .htaccess file, but recognizes the response from the server as valid.

In the next update, the old file name and path should be dropped and replaced with the new one. Sometimes you may see alternating old/new file names during the transition period, along with some possible fluctuations in rankings as things settle.”

btw, talking about that, this website is now basicly optimized for searchers (for the proper ones) X')

SORRY!
Is not that I don't care about what you have to say, of course I do, but they are speaking louder and I lost my patience :(
