| I don't know if you already seen anything, but looks like microsoft are spreading a lot of "previews" of all the software they are working on. Probably because there were feeling the people was starting to don't trust them. Those previews are actually 1gigabyte WMV videos recorded with a DVcam, usually there is a developer/architect/whatever explaining how the software works, and the cameraman is asking some good/bad questions. Regarding the videos... 1gigabyte.. wow! couldn't they just compress them a little bit? Even using a 8mb connection they still too big. The quality of the video, the style, the feeling.. well, it just looks like an amateur porn movie. Regarding what the preview itself... as usual, microsoft does have a lot of power, but they don't know how to show it. For example, whatever mac does, windows can do that as well, but looks like nobody in microsoft works to see how to impress the people, with shadows, distorstions.. blabla.. if you have to do a demo of a product, you have to know how to sell it showing cool things.. not just ugly things.. Regarding what they want to show... If you just concentrate and think all what you could do with the technology they are showing.. well, honestly, lookg like FINALLY they are doing good stuff, Office12 looks very cool, also Sparkle, aka Macromedia Flash killer, is very, very cool. It's the killer of Macromedia Flash but just for the cases where Macromedia Flash is used in Windows apps, not for web stuff. If you have a really good connection and you want to see more previews, check that site out. |
